Democracy on Screen returns Monday, September 21 with a screening of Dissidents, presented by French in Motion, in partnership with NYU's John Brademas Center.

The film follows three Chinese dissidents in the U.S.—including Tiananmen-era leader Juntao Wang and artist Weiming Chen—as they continue their fight for democracy while facing surveillance and intimidation from Beijing, even on American soil. Through their stories, the film traces how China's repression reaches far beyond its borders.

A conversation with director Yi Chen and China expert Bill Drexel follows, moderated by NYU's Charles Jordan, on human rights and U.S.-China relations.
