International Archives Week is a powerful reminder of why archives matter.

The Charles Sumner School Museum and Archives preserves materials that help tell the history of public education in the District, including the experiences of Asian and Asian American students in DC public schools as early as the 1880s.

Stories like these expand how we understand education history, race, and belonging in the District, and underscore the value of archival preservation in making those histories visible.
