Women's Truth & Justice Foundation

Women's Truth & Justice Foundation WTJF is a nonprofit corporation that provides free and reduced-cost legal services to women in crisis

Every day women find themselves in positions where their voices cannot be heard. One such place is within the American judicial system, where an individual's rights for due process should apply equally across gender lines. The Women's Truth and Justice Foundation ("WTJF") seeks to bring awareness and prompt further research into cases where female respondents in legal matters ranging from divorce and custody battles to domestic violence/control, were given disparate treatment.

"The law of unintended consequences" ....

Governmental Entities and Judicial Officials have the power to alter and destroy lives. They also have absolute immunity for any decisions made while acting in an official capacity. Therefore, they have no incentive to carefully consider the potential collateral damage or compounding ripple effects of their decisions. And the results prove what that costs the rest of us. Children are losing their mothers and fathers. Parents’ identities and personal histories are being erased. The logical end for many is what happens in the story below. At some point, the consequences are no longer unforeseen or unintended.

This new ruling exempting judicial records from public access through the Freedom of Information Act further curtails judicial accountability in Virginia. If you are a constituent in the commonwealth of Virginia, please take note and consider writing to your local congressman about the potential corruptive effects of this new legislation.

New rules issued by the Virginia Supreme Court say court officials around the state aren’t subject to the government in the sunshine law and can keep many of their internal records from the public.

More than 58 children have been killed since 2008, after courts ignored accusations of physical or sexual abuse in awarding custody. Worse yet, they demonize the parent who sounds the alarm, further isolating and endangering vulnerable children.
