In a time where "one-third of Democrats and almost half of all Republicans would be “displeased” if their child married someone from the opposite political party," it is crucial to prioritize moving past hyper partisanship.

Check out this thoughtful article by Greg Orman to learn more about the importance of moving past party lines and bringing politics back to the people.

Q) In your profile, you mentioned your passion for positive progress. In what ways would you like to see our country move forward, and how would you go about implementing this progress?
A) It is essential to treat all law-abiding citizens equal under the law, regardless of race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation/gender identity, or religion. This means ensuring that there is accountability to have an honest discussion of how to protect people of color while simultaneously praising good police officers for doing some of the toughest work this country has to offer. This means promoting gender equality by paying equal wages for equal work and assisting all women, but especially women of color who can very easily be overlooked. This means avoiding inflammatory and bigoted language with disgraceful statements based off of negative stereotypes, predominantly regarding Latino-Americans, and repairing a terribly flawed immigration system that requires new ideas from new people to solve. This means accepting LGBTQ individuals for who they are, prohibiting laws that can result in these individuals from losing their housing or job, and no longer turning public bathrooms into political battlefields. This means dismissing un-American policies like prohibiting entry into out country based on religion and realizing that Islam is not an enemy, but rather radicalization.

What's it take to get youth to register to vote? The answer may be simple--PokemonGo.

A political group in swing-state Ohio is using the game “Pokemon Go” for a purpose beyond catching cute Pikachu: registering voters.

Q) In your profile, you mentioned your passion for free expression on college campuses. What sparked this passion and how would you like to see the issue addressed?

A) It all began when I decided to start the nation’s first undergraduate Federalist Society chapter—a group committed to exploring all angles of law and public policy. When a professor approached me asking if we’d be interested in hosting a controversial fellow at a prominent national think tank, I decided to hold an event with a Q&A for students to engage the speaker’s ideas. In the week leading up to the event, students and administrative officials began to push back against the event because the ideas were perceived as threatening by several student groups and administrators. I received numerous warnings that the event would be heavily protested inside and outside the building where it would be held. A campus-wide debate ensued where students toiled with the nature of free speech—particularly speech with which they did not agree but that did not have any violent intent. Ultimately, the event was held but the discussion continued in classrooms and at cafeteria tables. I think students need to recognize that engaging ideas from all shades of the academic spectrum will serve their interests in strengthening their reasoning skills and stimulating their intellect. We are all in a quest for knowledge, and, if a student is convicted that their perspective is the only sensible one, then they should have no second thoughts in welcoming a scholar with opposing views to their campus. This is the exact sort of intellectual sparring that produces an academic culture that accurately reflects this nation and the world’s views. Outside of the world of politics, what is something that you would like to be known for? I am fascinated with getting to know people’s stories and ambitions. Through this appreciation for the unique callings people pursue, I attempt to encourage and support others in their life journeys. I would love nothing more than to be known as someone who is an inspirer, motivator, and collaborator—someone who sincerely cares about the dreams of others.

Join America2026 and Greg Orman on Thursday July 21st to discuss Orman's newly released book: "A Declaration of Independents".

In 2014, Greg Orman made headlines with his historic Independent run for the U.S. Senate in Kansas. Voters gravitated to Orman's campaign in unprecedented numbers, challenging the entrenched dominance of the two major parties over American politics.

In his new book, Orman describes how hyper-partisanship, division, and a win-at-all-costs environment in Washington have created a toxic culture of self-interest that has left average Americans behind. Orman argues that without fundamental change, our standard of living, our status in the world, and the very existence of the middle class are at risk. His critique of our ruling partisan duopoly explains why voters are choosing unconventional candidates in increasing numbers--from his own 2014 Senate race to the nation's 2016 presidential campaign.

No matter what your political affiliation, this compelling conversation will challenge you to think outside of the political box, rethink party orthodoxy, and understand new and independent approach to politics.

"You can search across the fruited plain and nowhere will you find a political convention for the affiliation that more Americans identify with than any other — independents.

According to Pew Research, the share of indies now stands at its highest point in more than 75 years of polling: 39 percent. And although other surveys slightly disagree, the point is the same: a plurality of voters has no place to call political home."

Independents, now a plurality of American voters, have no convention to call their own. So I went online looking for a party hookup.
