Today, we had the privilege of celebrating 106 years of the Coast Guard Chief Petty Officer. We were honored to be joined by Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security Mr. Troy Edgar, Coast Guard Vice Commandant Admiral Thomas Allan, MCPOCG-R William Adams, Deputy MCPOCG Matthew Buckman, along with many Coast Guard officers, enlisted members, civilians, families, and friends as we came together to celebrate this proud tradition.

Despite the hot May weather in the DMV, it didn’t stop everyone from coming out to enjoy the day, share stories, reconnect, and make even more great Coast Guard memories.

A special thank you to the countless volunteers whose hard work and dedication made this event such a success. Your service and support truly made the day possible!

What an unforgettable day at our annual Pizza with Santa Holiday Party! 🎄🍕✨

Hosted with joy by the NCR CGEA, CPOA, and CWOA, and made even more magical thanks to the incredible support of the Coast Guard Spouses Club DC—because it truly takes a village to bring this kind of holiday cheer to life.

From crafts and cookies to Santa’s grand entrance, the room was buzzing with excitement and laughter. We’re sharing just a handful of heartwarming pictures of the celebration. ❤️✨

Here’s to community, holiday spirit, and the memories we make together.

Happy Holidays! 🎁🎅✨

Celebrating 25 newly initiated Chiefs across our consolidated NCR area today! After weeks of a hectic and demanding CCTI season, they’ve crossed the finish line with grit, heart, and humility.

It all came together with a fantastic celebration surrounded by the people who pushed, encouraged, and cheered them on — loved ones, coworkers, and an incredible community that believes in them.

Proud of every single one of you. Congratulations, Chiefs! ⭐️⚓️💛

Please join the Chief Petty Officers Association (CPOA) Washington DC Chapter in commemorating the Coast Guard’s greatest loss, when more than 201 Coast Guard members perished during WWII when the USS SERPENS exploded off the coast of Lunga Beach, Guadalcanal on 29 JAN 1945.

Their remains are interred in Section 34 of the Arlington National Cemetery (ANC) and is the largest group burial at the ANC.

Date: Thursday, 29 JAN 2025

Please give yourself ample time to park and make your way to the memorial site.

Flags Across America 🇺🇸

What an incredible turnout! We’re so thankful to everyone who came out to honor our Coast Guard servicemembers who have passed the bar.

We were joined by some truly special guests — Acting Commandant of the Coast Guard Admiral Kevin Lunday and his spouse, Ombudsman-at-Large Lynda Lee Lunday, Vice Admiral Thomas Allan, Deputy Master Chief Petty Officer of the Coast Guard Matthew Buckman, 5th Master Chief Petty Officer of the Coast Guard Reserve Mark Allen, and 13th Chaplain of the Coast Guard Jennifer Bowden.

It was a beautiful, sunny Saturday filled with pride, reflection, and gratitude as we honored the brave Coasties who served with courage and heart. Their legacy continues to inspire us all. ⚓️❤️🤍💙

Some of you may have heard that YNC Martin Wygant (pictured right), who retired last year and the father of YN2 Brandon Wygant (pictured left, CG-PSC-RPM), passed away this week while on a family vacation in Hawaii.

The CPOA DC Chapter is standing by to help his family as we can. We are attempting to collect donations to assist the family through a single collection point, the Lone Star CPOA, and then donate to the family. We will put up a vote for funds distribution once we hear what the family needs. This way we can pass on funds from the CPOA DC Chapter and from individuals as a single check to the family. Currently, MSTCM Michael Oyler and MKCS Ryan Buckingham are coordinating with the Wygant family, so that they are not inundated with calls.

If you would like to donate, please use the Zelle QR Code below. An alternate method is to manually enter in Zelle using recipient name “CPOA Galveston Chapter”, and email [email protected] (Treasurer).

Fair winds and following seas, brother!
