This is called the "September Shock." It happens every year when summer vacations finish, schools start again, and many people go back to work at the same time.

A drive that takes 60 minutes in August can take up to 90 minutes in September. 🤯 The best way to avoid traffic this upcoming month? Take Metro! 🚇

Starting Monday, you’ll see buses hitting the streets with brand new technology! 🚌 We are replacing exterior mirrors on our new buses with cameras and digital interior mirrors, providing operators with a brighter, clearer view of vehicles and other road users traveling behind and alongside the bus.

We’ve also added additional collision avoidance sensors and warning systems to help operators better identify and avoid pedestrians, cyclists, vehicles, and more. These innovative tools help us modernize our bus fleet and improve safety for all.

Did you know you can bring your bike on Metro Bus for free? 🚍🚲

It’s simple! Just use the front bicycle rack and follow these steps:

1️⃣ Signal to the driver that you need to load your bike.
2️⃣ Squeeze the handle to lower the rack.
3️⃣ Load your bike and secure the tire with the spring-loaded bar.
4️⃣ Board and let the driver know your stop.

When exiting, unload your bike, fold up the rack if empty, and wave to the driver once clear.

Metro is developing a state-of-the-art training center that will consolidate training functions into a single, purpose-built facility. Designed to replicate real-world transit environments, the center will support both hands-on and classroom instruction and will be located on Pennsy Drive in Landover, MD.

You’re invited to attend a public hearing about the project on Sept. 17 at 6:30 p.m. at Metro’s New Carrollton Office Building. You can also provide feedback through a survey available until 9 a.m. on Sept. 28.
