This week, SCA attended an important hearing before Congress where Annie Laurie Gaylor of the Freedom From Religion Foundation helped explain why we need a statue of Thomas Paine on the Mall:

Our co-president Annie Laurie Gaylor testified before Congress today on behalf of the Thomas Paine Memorial Association to erect a statue of Thomas Paine on the National Mall.

A support group for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color in need of support from religious trauma, deconstruction, and/or life after religion.

Black, Indigenous, and People of Color deserve support spaces where every part of their story is welcomed, respected, and understood.

Recovering from Religion’s BIPOC Support Group meets this evening, September 1, at 6 PM EDT. This virtual peer-support space is for BIPOC individuals navigating religious trauma, doubt, deconstruction, or life after religion.

“Since the 1970s, the state’s criminal and civil laws have allowed parents who belong to Followers of Christ and other faith-healing sects to pray as their children die.”

For decades, Idaho laws have allowed parents who belong to the Followers of Christ and other faith-healing sects to pray rather than seek medical care. Since 2015, at least 15 children have died of treatable conditions.
