Democracy Corps Democracy Corps is an independent, non-profit organization dedicated to making the United States gove

Democracy Corps was founded in 1999 by James Carville and Stanley Greenberg. It provides free public opinion research and strategic advice to those dedicated to a more responsive Congress and Presidency. The organization was born out of outrage over the impeachment of President Clinton when the leadership in Congress preferred radical partisanship to addressing the issues which really matter to Am

erican families. Following the 2000 election, Democracy Corps rededicated itself after the presidential candidate with the most votes and the most popular policy agenda did not become the President of the United States.

Inflation concentrates the mind. Biden should talk almost exclusively about high prices and what he has been doing to help. Americans want help and want to know that the White House will deliver change.

The president needs to persuade voters he’s tackling the cost of living crisis and standing up to big business

76% of the country say the country is headed in the wrong direction. Why is that the case?

Well, they are desperate about inflation and the cost of living. 64% choose it as their top problem. The longer this inflation extends, the angrier people get. The Biden presidency is defined by that inflation.

Most importantly they want our leaders to get it and for our government to help. They need to talk about high prices and the help they are providing, like reduced drug costs and the Child Tax Credit. And, to shift the power away from big corporations to workers.

Are the Democrats Sleepwalking to Disaster? -The American Prospect

The number one issue for Americans is the high price of food, shelter, and other necessities. A gap of nearly 30 percentage points separates this concern from the various second-ranking concerns.

Joe Biden has been an excellent president, but is also, I fear, the candidate least able to defeat Donald Trump. Other Democrats need to enter the race.

Check out the latest article by Thomas Edsall in the The New York Times, featuring Democracy Corps polling.

From the article:

In an email, summarized the results: “This is grim.”

“There is some evidence the Democracy Corps survey that concerns specific to Biden — including his age and the surge in prices during his presidency — are driving the perception of Democratic weakness rather than discontent with the party itself.”

This is what’s keeping the Biden campaign up at night.

Trump is beating Biden by five points in these states and has higher approval ratings than the President, even among voting groups that form the Democratic base, such as African Americans, Hispanics, Asians, and young voters. How can this be?

“Above all, they are desperate about inflation and the cost of living: 64 percent choose it as the top problem—about 30 points higher than any other. The Biden presidency is defined by that inflation and the longer it extends the angry people get.” - Stan Greenberg

“When it comes to mobilizing worries about the “deep state” to fuel the Republican presidential campaign, as Democracy Corps found, there’s little evidence that will work.”
