Promethean Community

Promethean Community We enhance collaboration internally and externally

Promethean Community is for leaders working on complex social challenges in Latin America and the Caribbean who seek to increase their capacity to drive social innovation. We currently support leaders in communities, international development organizations, NGOs, foundations, universities, and government. We help them approach these problems in more inclusive, participatory and systemic ways, whic

h foster a shift in the way we think, feel and interact with our organizations and communities. Through our workshops, current and potential leaders engage in a wide range of interactive processes tailored to their specific context that develop their ability to build trust with other stakeholders, improve communication amongst themselves and their teams, and promote collaboration and co-creation. After engaging with Promethean Community, leaders will be able to:

- Recognize the value of creating solutions with their teams and partners in new collaborative and creative ways

- Deepen their ability to empathize with the stakeholders they are collaborating with

- Engage community members in inclusive ways so that they have more voice in the creation of solutions and processes

- Embrace intelligent failing as a learning tool for social innovation

- Experiment with prototypes to challenge assumptions, reduce costs, optimize time, create impact, and increase sustainability

-Create and sustain dynamic feedback loops within their teams and communities for continuous learning and improvement

Happy Holidays to everyone!

It's hard to believe that 8 years ago, in 2011, we began Promethean Community. In this past decade, we've seen our growth and development take off, and we're currently working on projects we once dreamt of. None of this would have been possible without all your support, and we're deeply grateful.

What is Promethean Community’s impact?
Over the years, a lot of people have asked us what our dynamics look like and what impact do they generate.

Although we would rather show you in person, here’s a video of one of our most recent experiences with the IDB :)

Are you imagining a similar experience for your team or group of stakeholders? Do you need these types of synergies to create with other organizations? Write us and let’s talk possibilities!

Good morning and Happy New Year!

We are very excited to tell you about a new milestone in Promethean Community’s journey: we have been selected to join the Agora Accelerator! Starting February, we will be members of a community of social change agents made up of more than 180 companies from across Latin America and the Caribbean.

The Agora Accelerator is the flagship program of Agora Partnerships , designed to give entrepreneurs access to knowledge, networks, and capital. During 6 months, we will be provided with in-depth consulting support and access to mentors, investors, and a global community of peers.

Each year, Agora chooses between hundreds of high-potential, early- and growth-stage companies. The selected ones are always businesses that set out to solve social and environmental challenges. We are honored to have been invited to join this network.

We are sure that sharing with dreamers from the whole region will inspire us to continue working with strategic leaders who want to foster a work culture of innovation within their organizations and with their partners. We are excited by the ways in which Agora will connect us with entrepreneurs and investors that share our vision and our goals. They will help us continue to transform tension, uncertainty, and conflict into collaboration and creativity.

Do you have any questions about the Agora Accelerator? Would you like to know more about Promethean Community? Who do you think would like to know about our work? Be sure to let us know!

An article published yesterday in Nautilus breaks down the cognitive roots of hatred: “Despite that role of cognition, the core of Us/Them-ing is emotional and automatic.” Read the full article: http://bit.ly/2s48rw7

Performance is one way to lessen the impact of Us/Them-ing. Our founder, Andres Marquez-Lara, shared this in a presentation at Mayo Clinic about Community Healing on the Stage -- Going Beyond Labels:

"On the safety of the stage, we're able to approach the Other. And so the stage becomes this environment, this heart, this container to explore and challenge the labels. It's not an intellectual exercise, it's a holistic approach where I become Them. And that helps build empathy…. On the stage, we're able to heal. On the stage, we're able to go beyond the labels that keep us apart. On the stage, we're able to restore the social fabric of our individual and collective health. On the stage, we remember that we are the Other."

Today is . As more and more people around the world are displaced by war, famine, and other tragic situations, how do we create spaces to include their voices and gifts in their new homes? How do we hold the space to process the pain and trauma that comes with forcibly leaving your homeland, and what that raises for those opening their homes to refugees? And how do we help the diaspora organize so that they can channel their love for their homelands into actions that heal the countries and communities they left behind?

In our work with diverse communities in Latin America and the Caribbean, Promethean Community helps communities answer difficult questions like these for themselves.
