My Final Year As Mayor
As we enter 2026, I am reflecting on my experience over the last seven years serving as your mayor. Here in Happy Valley the Office of the Mayor is limited to two four-year terms, and so at the end of December I will be saying goodbye to this role. I am incredibly grateful for the opportunities I have had to serve this community. I’ve spent the last 21 years volunteering for the City of Happy Valley, first on the Planning Commission then as a City Councilor and finally as Mayor. During that time, we’ve accomplished many remarkable things together that continue to make Happy Valley such a special place to live. The commitment from our residents, community groups, volunteers and our city staff is second to none and we all benefit as a result. Happy Valley is a safe, clean and well-run city with a bright future. Thank you for the privilege of serving as your mayor. It’s been the honor of my life and I look forward to continuing our work together in the year ahead.

Since it is Dec. 7th I have to tell my Pearl Harbor story.
My friend Scott and I were standing in line at Subway waiting for our food, I noticed an older gentlemen standing behind me with a hat on that said Pearl Harbor. I turned around and asked him if he was at Pearl Harbor, He looked at me as serious as could be and said " I was sittin on the pot when the torpedo hit" I almost fell over. He told me he was on the USS Raleigh a 555 foot cruiser tied up next to battleship row. They were hit by a torpedo in the No. 2 boiler room, the ship almost sank but the crew worked together and saved the ship, not one sailor was killed and they were credited with five enemy planes shot down. Needless to say he didn't have to pay for his lunch that day.
It is sad that almost all of these WWII heroes are gone now. We can not let them be forgotten.
