On 19-23 May 2025, Ambassador Mpho Churchill O. Mophuting, embarked on a working visit to Raleigh, North Carolina. During his visit, the Ambassador met with key state leaders, including Governor Josh Stein, Secretary of State Elaine Marshall, Secretary of Military and Veterans Affairs Jocelyn Mitnaul Mallette, and Secretary of Commerce Lee Lilly.

Additional significant meetings were held with Major General Todd Hunt of the North Carolina National Guard, Economic Development Partnerships, the North Carolina Department of Agriculture, NC State University, NC Global Education, Research Triangle Institute, and the North Carolina Biotechnology Center.

The meetings aimed to strengthen the Botswana-North Carolina partnership, established in 2008, which focuses on military-to-military partnerships and civilian cooperation. North Carolina reiterated its commitment to supporting Botswana in strategic areas, including education, agriculture, science and technology, as well as trade and investment opportunities.

High Commissioner Mophuting has Presented Letters of Credence to Canada

High Commissioner Mpho Churchill O. Mophuting has presented his Letters of Credence to Her Excellency Mary May Simon, Governor General and Commander-in-Chief of Canada. The presentation accords the High Commissioner an opportunity to further bilateral and economic cooperation that subsist between Botswana and Canada.

While in Ottawa, Canada, the High Commissioner held meetings at the Office of Southern and Eastern Africa at Global Affairs Canada and with the Chief of Defense Staff to reaffirm Botswana's commitment to its relations with Canada and explore collaborative opportunities in areas of mutual interest.
