Today we celebrated the completion of a deep energy retrofit at Victory Square Senior Apartments in Ward 7 alongside the . By installing high efficiency heat pumps, efficient electric water heaters, and water saving fixtures, residents are now projected to save $650 annually on utility costs. We need more successful stories like this! This is why WIN is calling on DC Council to add 9 million of additional funds to the Sustainable Energy Trust Fund for Healthy Homes implementation.

Foundry members joined neighbors from across all 8 wards of DC this week for a powerful evening with the Interfaith Network (WIN). The WIN candidates forum brought together DC residents who shared their own stories about affordable housing, homelessness, public safety, health equity, and Black homeownership, then asked candidates directly for their commitments. It was civic engagement at its best.

Several candidates said it was their favorite format of any event they had attended this cycle. Foundry is proud to be one of 45 member institutions building community power together as we approach the June 16 DC primary.

Tomorrow, Friday, May 1, we're showing up for May Day Strong. Thousands of organizations across the country are calling for "No Work, No School, No Shopping"—and in DC, we're demanding Workers Over Billionaires.

WIN is part of the steering committee for May Day DC, spearheaded by FreeDC in coalition with labor and community partners.

Here's how to join:

11:00 AM — Faith communities gather at 1313 New York Ave NW before marching together as a faith contingent to the main rally.
12:00–2:00 PM — March and rally led by immigrant workers in solidarity with labor unions. North side of the National Museum of African American History and Culture.

Whether you're there all morning or just for the march, your presence matters.

Wear your WIN blue!

Members of Foundry’s Sacred Resistance team and ID Ministry volunteers, in partnership with the Interfaith Network (WIN), are working to make it easier for neighbors experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity to access the social service proof of residency form required to obtain a DC ID.

Recently, several of our members testified at a DMV oversight hearing at the John A. Wilson Building to raise awareness and advocate for specific changes that would make this critical form more accessible.

Access to an ID opens the door to housing, employment, healthcare, and stability. We’re committed to removing barriers and standing alongside our neighbors in the fight for dignity and opportunity.

We are heartbroken and outraged by the unjust killing of Alex Jeffrey Pretti, a nurse and devoted community member in Minneapolis. His death is a stark reminder of the violence our neighbors face daily under aggressive, militarized immigration enforcement.

The House just passed a bill last week giving ICE billions more dollars. Tomorrow, the Senate votes. It is immoral to fund the separation, persecution, and death of our people. We must act now.

*TOMORROW, JANUARY 29 at 9:00 AM ET*

Join WIN and our partners at Faith in Action, The Just Power Alliance, and other movement allies, as people of faith from across the country gather to pray with our feet and take bold, moral action.

We'll meet at the Lutheran Church of the Reformation for preparation and multi-faith prayer, then walk together to the U.S. Capitol to visit U.S. Senators' offices with one clear message: Say NO to DHS funding—and get ICE out of our communities.

Our faith calls us to act. In this moment, our local action is deeply tied to national action.

Please join us.
