DC Fair Elections Program to Host 2026 Debate Series
Four Debates Scheduled April 28–30 at the DC Board of Elections; All Events Open to Press and Streamed Live
Washington, D.C. – The District of Columbia’s Fair Elections Program (FEP), administered by the DC Office of Campaign Finance in partnership with the DC Board of Elections, will host a series of four debates for the 2026 election cycle from April 28 through April 30, 2026.
The debates will take place in the DC Board of Elections Hearing Room and will be open to members of the press. All debates will also be livestreamed on YouTube and available via dcdebates.com, ensuring broad public access for residents across the District.
This multi-day debate series will provide voters with the opportunity to hear directly from candidates running for key offices, including At-Large Council, Attorney General, and Mayor. Candidates will address critical issues facing the District, including public safety, economic opportunity, education, and governance.

Office of Campaign Finance Training

Tuesday, March 3, 2026 – In Real Time - Introducing the Traditional Campaign Finance and the Fair Elections Program of the Office of Campaign Finance for the 2026 Election Cycle 2026, (12:00 p.m.-
1:00 p.m.).

Wednesday, March 11, 2026 - Understanding the Registration and Reporting Requirements for the Treasurers of Constituent Services Programs, the Statehood Fund Programs, Political Action Committees, Ballot Committees, and Independent Expenditure Committees; and Training for Business Contributors, (12:00 p.m-1:00 p.m.).

Wednesday, March 25, 2026 – Introducing the Traditional Campaign Finance and the Fair Elections Program of the Office of Campaign Finance for the 2026 Election Cycle, (12:00 p.m. -1:00 p.m.).

The D.C. Office of Campaign Finance (OCF) will conduct informal training seminars throughout Calendar Year 2026 for candidates for elective office, and the treasurers and officers of political committees, including political action committees, independent expenditure committees, constituent services programs, legal defense committees, transition committees, inaugural committees, and Statehood funds programs.

Please note that attendance at any of these sessions will not satisfy the attendance requirement for candidates and treasurers at the mandatory OCF Entrance Conference Training Seminars will be conducted virtually and in real time at the OCF Website, www.ocf.dc.gov. To register to attend a seminar, please email the Public Information and Records Management Division at [email protected] at least 3 days prior to the scheduled virtual seminar.

Informal Hearings on Delinquent Filers
The Office of Campaign Finance utilizes the informal hearing process to address alleged violations of the reporting and disclosure requirements, prescribed by the Campaign Finance Act and Chapters 30-41 of Title 3, “Elections and Ethics” of the District of Columbia Municipal Regulations. The OCF Regulations governing the informal hearing process may be found in Section 3709 of Chapter 37.

When a violation of the reporting and disclosure requirements has occurred, the Director of Campaign Finance may ministerially impose fines upon the offending party as enumerated in Section 3711 of Chapter 37. Notice of hearing and possible fines regarding the alleged violation is mailed to each offending party. A hearing is conducted and a written order is issued soon thereafter. Orders reflect the type of reporting entity in the Docket Number. Orders listed under "Candidates and Political Committees" include those for candidates, principal campaign committee, and political action committees, or PACs. Therefore, noted in the Docket Number before the “dash,” orders regarding Advisory Neighborhood Commission candidates are identified with an “A”; all other candidates and principal campaign committees are identified with a "C;" inaugural Committees are identified with a “I;” legal defense committees are identified with a “L;” transition committees are identified with a “T;” and political action committees, or PACs, are identified with a "P.

The Office of Campaign Finance will post orders in matters where informal hearings on the reporting requirements have been concluded.

Occasionally, the Office of Campaign Finance may be unable to locate an alleged filing entity or individual filer due to, among other things, changes in address information, filing or employment, or the suspension of the financial operations or activity of the entity or filer. When the Office of Campaign Finance has spent a reasonable amount of resources to locate an alleged filing entity or individual filer, but to no avail, the Director will issue an Order of Administrative Dismissal; and, in certain instances, the Office of Campaign Finance will vacate an Order previously issued.

Training is mandatory for each candidate for public office (with the exception of Candidates for Advisory Neighborhood Commissioners) and each treasurer of a political committee, political action committee, or independent expenditure committee. Training sessions are conducted virtually, and should be completed within fifteen (15) calendar days from the date the Statement of Organization form is filed with the Agency.
