The last living rescue from 9/11—a charred and battered pear tree—has been recovering at a Bronx nursery. Now, it’s finally returning home. Filmmaker Scott Elliott follows the journey of the resilient tree back to Ground Zero, capturing the tremendous impact nature has had on many New Yorkers' lives since 9/11.

Today, we pause to reflect on September 11 and a day that profoundly shaped our country and our communities.

At the 9/11 Memorial, the Survivor Tree stands as a living symbol of resilience. Discovered in the rubble at Ground Zero, the tree was carefully restored and later returned to the site, where it continues to grow.
Today, it offers a quiet reminder of our capacity to endure, heal, and move forward while carrying the past with us.
May we carry that same care for one another and commitment to community forward.

Nature has a way of making the ordinary feel extraordinary. A change in light, a quiet trail, the sound of water, or a view you’ve seen a hundred times can still give you a reason to stop and take it all in.

Where have you found something marvelous in nature lately?

🏞️ Sometimes connection is simply being there, sharing the same view, breathing the same fresh air, and experiencing the same moment.
In nature, every shared moment is a chance to connect with each other and with the landscape around us.✨

Nature doesn’t go to sleep when the sun goes down. 🌘
From the deserts of to the forests and coastlines of Rico, nighttime brings a whole different ecosystem to life. Bats take flight, owls begin their calls, coquíes fill the night with sound, and moths and other pollinators get to work.
Connecting with nature can happen at night, too. Take an evening walk, listen for wildlife, look up at the stars, or simply sit outside and experience how the landscape changes after dark.
Just remember: explore safely, stay on marked paths, bring a light, respect , and leave as you found it.
There’s a whole world to discover after sunset. 🌙✨

National Park Week is about more than the places we love, it’s also about the people and communities who bring them to life. 🌲🎶
Our national parks are places to gather, celebrate, explore, and experience nature together. This week, we celebrate these incredible public lands and everyone who helps care for them, protect them, and make them welcoming for all.

Our Corazón Latino member Chloe shares one of her favorite back-to-school traditions: canoeing! 🛶🌿
Back-to-school traditions can be more than new supplies and first-day photos. They can be adventures that kids look forward to year after year.
Whether it’s canoeing, hiking, visiting a favorite park, or simply spending an afternoon outside, make nature part of the memories your family carries with them. 💚
Here’s to creating traditions rooted in adventure, togetherness, and the outdoors!
And happy back-to-school! 📚

It’s Watch Wildlife Wednesday! 🦅🦋🐿️
National parks are home to an incredible variety of wildlife, and today is all about slowing down, looking a little closer, and appreciating the animals that share these protected spaces with us.
Whether it’s a bird overhead, a tiny insect along the trail, or an animal in the distance, every sighting is a glimpse into the ecosystems our public lands help protect.
This National Park Week, get outside, keep your eyes open, and see who you spot! 🌲
