After repeatedly contacting the Social Security office in person and by phone, Angela from Edcouch, Texas, was unable to get her Medicare Part B benefits reinstated. With scammers on the rise in South Texas, I’m fighting in Congress to hold them accountable. That’s why I’m co-leading the STOP Payments Fraud act that would give financial institutions the resources to hold suspicious checks and transfers during fraud investigations.

Small businesses are the backbone of South Texas, and this week I had the honor of presenting a congressional certificate alongside Norma Sepulveda, Harlingen Mayor to Greater Coffee Co. in Harlingen!

Since opening in February of 2025, Greater Coffee Co. has quickly become a coffee haven and space for our community to build connections. In Congress, I am fighting to assure that we continue to invest in small businesses owners and give them a stronger voice in Washington!

While I fully support commercial growth and economic development, it cannot come at the expense of resources our region urgently needs.

South Texas is facing a water shortage, and data centers are energy-intensive and large water consumption facilities that will place significant new demands on already strained communities. We must be able to reliably serve homes and businesses before looking to build or expand data centers.

Until we have an abundance of water, a reliable energy grid, and a well-thought-out-plan for the future, I continue to oppose the development of these facilities.

Fluidstack has broken ground on a $4 billion data center campus in Cameron County near Harlingen, promising over 2,500 jobs, closed-loop water cooling, and full property tax contributions.

I was honored to join the Kingsville community this morning at Javelina Stadium to commemorate 25 years since the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

The memory of that day remains vivid. I remember sitting at the dining room table with my parents in Corpus Christi when the news broke. The shock, the grief, and the profound sense of loss that followed. But just as enduring is our memory of the courage that emerged in the face of unimaginable tragedy.

As we remember those we’ve lost, we express our deepest gratitude to the brave first responders and service members who answered the call that day and in the weeks and months that followed. This includes Pentagon first responder, First Sergeant Ulysses Bell Jr., who my office invited to attend today’s ceremony and share his firsthand experience.

Big changes and more jobs are coming to South Texas!

I delivered $2.5 million in federal funding to the City of Brownsville Public Works Department to support the construction of the Marina Industrial Park, including roadway, water, sewer and storm water infrastructure.

Once finished, it is estimated to create 590 new jobs and leverage over $18 million in private investment. When we invest in local development, we invest in the future of South Texas.
