SunTzuWiki-GIS

SunTzuWiki-GIS Protecting journalists worldwide and improving investigative journalism. SunTzuWiki-GIS is a mashup of a wiki for investigative journalists and Google Maps.

The geospatially-specific information on local conditions concerning crime and other health and safety hazards will be available to the general public as well as investigative journalists. So it provides information about local health and safety conditions, including crime; IEDs; endemic diseases; police, army, militia, insurgent and orther militant activities; as well as resources including broadband access, ATMS, cashpoints, physicians, attorneys, accomodations and similar productivity-enhancing services. We can't ask for press passes from journalists in repressive countries like North Korea, Libya, Iran and so forth. SunTzuWiki-GIS has been inspired partly by the attacks on Laura Logan, the CBS-TV reporter who was attacked in Cairo. She was attacked because she was in the wrong place at the wrong time wearing the wrong clothing. If she had had access to the kind of information on SunTzuWiki-GIS, she would not have been attacked.
