Spotted lanternflies are roaming around DC. As we enter fall, keep an eye out for this invasive species on trees, sidewalks, and around your neighborhood.

Cleanup mode is in full effect across DC. Our District Department of Transportation Urban Forestry crews are hard at work responding to the 300+ trees that came down during last night’s storm. Crews are clearing fallen trees, branches, and debris from public space across the District.

Cleanup will take time as teams continue responding to storm impacts throughout DC.

If you spot a hazard, please report it to DC 311.

Last night's storm was intense, our Urban Forestry crews and contractors are hard at work across the city clearing major downed trees, branches, and debris to help with the impact. If you see a downed tree in public space, please report it to DC 311.

See a downed tree after the storm? Please report it by calling 311 or selecting the “Tree Inspection” service request through the 311 online portal or app. Already reported it? No need to submit another request. Crews are working through reports as quickly and safely as possible

Fallen trees can cause serious damage. Please stay safe and watch for power lines or hanging limbs. If a tree fell entirely on private property and doesn’t impact a street, sidewalk, or any public space, contact your insurance provider. If it impacts public space, report it to 311.

As storm recovery continues across DC, place fallen branches/debris from your property or vehicle at your trash collection point or in a tree box.

Do NOT place debris in roads, bike lanes, or sidewalks.

Attention DBE Firms! Only 5 days left to complete your DBE reevaluation — the reevaluation window closes on August 31, 2026. The District Department of Transportation and WMATA must update their DBE goals, and that depends on having an accurate, fully reevaluated DBE registry.

If your firm does not complete reevaluation, it cannot be counted in the new DCUCP DBE directory, which can lower the overall DBE participation goal for both agencies. Firms that miss the window will also be temporarily ineligible for DBE contracting opportunities until reevaluation is finished and they have been reviewed.
