We’re excited to announce our second Fireside Chat speaker for the 2nd Annual Partnership Convening: Mila Kofman, J.D., Executive Director of the DC Health Benefit Exchange Authority.

This year’s Fireside Chat will explore the evolving behavioral health landscape in Washington, DC, the opportunities and challenges ahead, and the importance of strong partnerships in building a more responsive and effective system of care.

Ms. Kofman brings a unique perspective to this conversation as a nationally recognized expert on the private health insurance market and a leader in building innovative public-private partnerships across the health care landscape.

Ms. Kofman has been recognized by the Washington Business Journal as one of 100 “most influential people” in DC and is a proud recipient of Mayor Bowser’s 2026 DC Impact Award. The DC Chamber of Commerce also recognized Ms. Kofman’s work with the 2026 Small Business Champion of the Year Award.

We look forward to an engaging conversation about where behavioral health in DC is headed, and what strong partnerships can make possible.

We’re delighted to welcome Mark LeVota, Executive Director of the District of Columbia Behavioral Health Association, for a fireside chat at Community Connections’ 2nd Annual Partnership Convening on October 21, 2026, at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library.

Mark has served as Executive Director of the District of Columbia Behavioral Health Association since May 2016. He previously chaired the Department of Behavioral Health’s Behavioral Health Planning Council and the District’s Medicaid Medical Care Advisory Committee. Before joining DCBHA, Mark spent 11 years with Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Washington. He holds an MBA from the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business and an undergraduate degree in Politics from The Catholic University of America.

Join us for an engaging and thought-provoking conversation about the future of behavioral health, the challenges and opportunities facing our sector, and the collaborative solutions needed to improve outcomes for individuals and families across the District.

Meet Our 2nd Annual Partnership Convening Keynote Speaker: William C. Moyers.

We are honored to welcome William C. Moyers as the keynote speaker. An acclaimed author and nationally recognized advocate for addiction treatment and recovery, William has spent nearly 31 years with the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation, helping to transform the national conversation around addiction, treatment, stigma, and recovery. This keynote offers a special opportunity to hear William reflect on a remarkable career dedicated to advancing hope, healing, and the belief that recovery is possible. William will also share his perspective on how far the recovery movement has come, the challenges that remain, and what all of us- providers, advocates, policymakers, community leaders, and people with lived experience can do to build a future where everyone has the opportunity to recover and thrive.
