The Washington AIDS Partnership (WAP) had a great time at the Funders Concerned About AIDS (FCAA) Summit. WAP executive director and FCAA board chair Channing Wickham delivered his opening remarks to a diverse group of philanthropists, community organizers, activists, and HIV/health advocates. The Health Corps team was also present, volunteering at the summit and attending the many different workshops and breakout sessions offered. It was a great two days of learning and meeting people from across the world dedicated to working in the HIV sphere. Many thanks to John Barnes and the FCAA team for hosting such an informative and engaging summit!

Check out the Washington AIDS Partnership’s new Request for Applications for the Catalyst initiative! As part of this program, WAP supports intersectional projects that address the key issues that negatively impact the health and wellness of gay, bisexual, and q***r men of color in the Greater Washington region. The initiative’s focus of “health and wellness” is deliberately broad, to encompass the variety of issues that negatively affect gay, bisexual, and q***r men of color and provide an opportunity for innovation.

You can find the Request for Applications on the Washington AIDS Partnership’s website. Applications are due by 5pm Eastern Standard Time (EST) on Monday, May 6th, 2019 for funding in June 2019.

The Washington AIDS Partnership employs a unique and efficient mechanism for responding to the local HIV epidemic through its collaborative grantmaking model. Funders Concerned About AIDS (FCAA) is the leading voice on philanthropic resources allocated to the global AIDS epidemic. It provides funders with the necessary data to make informed decisions related to allocating increased, focused HIV/AIDS resources.

FCAA has spent the past year taking an in-depth look at funding for community-based responses to help determine how philanthropy can better support them. This year’s convening is focused, in large part, around the findings from this effort. We will discuss:
• What “community” means to different stakeholders; and
• Key challenges, opportunities and best practices for private funders to support community-based organizations.

See you there!

Each year FCAA convenes funders to share good practices & strategies to increase the amount & impact of philanthropic resources dedicated to ending the AIDS epidemic. This is a funder-only event. FCAA charges a small registration fee. Questions regarding membership status? Please email sarah@fcaaids...

Today is the first official day of service for our 12 AmeriCorps members. Each member has been placed at a DC health organization that focuses in HIV care and prevention. We are so proud of them! Here's a throwback to last Friday when we concluded our pre-service orientation at the University of Maryland's Ropes Course. The team had a great time bonding and exercising together!
