Who benefited most from the adoption of new technology & e-commerce tools in the 2010s: small, medium-sized, or large retailers?
Surprising findings from a new CCIA Research Center & Rob Kulick of NERA study show that not only did retail small & medium-sized businesses (SMBs) see an associated explosion in growth after adopting e-commerce and omnichannel tools in the 2010s, but that their new e-commerce capabilities benefitted them more than the same tools did larger retailers. The correlation is clear: digital technology was a rising tide that lifted all ships in the 2010s, but retail SMBs owe their ability to access economies of scale and compete with large incumbents to the digital tools that connect them with customers around the world.
