The families we serve are from Wards 7 and 8. They are DC residents. They are constituents.
The DC Council votes soon. The ask is simple — fund the safety net before the cost of dismantling it falls on the next generation.

It means refusing to accept preventable maternal deaths.

It means committing to a world where dignity and access is the norm for all women, everywhere.

On Martin Luther King Jr. Day, we were honored to welcome Howard University volunteers who spent the day serving at our shelter by helping to clean, organize, and refresh our space for the pregnant and parenting teens we support.

Their service reflects Dr. King’s belief that “everybody can be great, because everybody can serve.” Acts like these help ensure our residents have a safe, dignified, and nurturing environment as they work toward stability and independence.

We are grateful to Howard University for choosing service and community care on this Day On, Not a Day Off.

Gamma Chapter is proud to celebrate Na’Zyia Lashley, our nominee and the recipient of the 2024–2025 Alice P. Allen National Scholarship awarded by Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc. 💚📚

The Alice P. Allen National Scholarship is named in honor of Iota’s second National President (1946-1950). This scholarship is awarded to a teenage mother who desires to further her education beyond high school. Gamma Chapter manages this award locally and awards $250.00 locally to the one winner selected to compete for the national $2,000.00 prize.

Na’Zyia is pursuing a degree in Elementary Education at American University, and her dedication to academic excellence and perseverance is inspiring! 🌟

We are honored to uplift and support incredible young women like her who are shaping the future of education. We celebrate you and can’t wait to see the impact you’ll make! 👏🏽🙌🏽
