The $21 billion estimate is nowhere near accurate. With 408,000 claims, that's only $51,000 each. Given the many wrongful death claims, that's just wildly inaccurate as an estimate.
In a DOJ court filing, the claims in 2023 amounted to $3 trillion +. It is probably closer to $9 trillion now.
To downplay the potential amount to be paid is to once again shortchange these victims by underestimating what their proper justice is.
At $9 trillion, even reducing claims by 99% is still $90 billion.
$90 billion divided by 408,000 is $220,000.
Still way too low with the level of death and suffering here and the delay in justice now amounting to 72 years in some cases. 56 years in my case. This killed my mom 28 years ago.
How about if you do an article asking why CLFMP doesn't cover everyone EXPOSED without requiring a base address? I for instance was born there at CLNH and exposed almost every day to CL for 19 months but can't get the health care because my mother and I slept off base while using the base during the day.
Splitting hairs shows a lack of remorse by a dishonest government, dishonest military, and hostile and dishonest judges who are government employees.
The global settlement needs to accept blame and responsibility for the poisoning and provide normal damages amounts based on this type of injury in jury verdicts nationally.
Instead of lowballing estimates, why don't you ask whether interest will be imposed from the dates of exposure. Instead of listening to senators whine about attorney fees, ask why the government doesn't just offer to pay all attorney fees at no cost to victims.
Interest and attorney fees need to be on the table due to the ridiculous delays in this justice and DOJ bad faith attitudes. Even their Elective Option system is offered in bad faith, designed to pick off the most badly injured who need money the most to give them less than they deserve.
The global settlement needs to include full health care for everyone with a CLJA claim who alleged presence during the poisoning time. It should work in every country around the world, with an online claims system.
Full health care because nobody knows the full impact on the body and every part of the bodies of victims was exposed with toxic water.
Lean in favor of victims who did nothing but serve our country, and were in return betrayed by it. Every day of the last 72 years, we were betrayed.
We should have been offered settlement when CL became a massive Superfund site with nearly 100 toxic sites according to the EPA in 1989.
Every delay since then was supported by new dishonesty causing more suffering.
These lies and delays hurt people, killed them.
That full health care should be available like CLFMP via pre or post treatment claims but with no base address requirement, only exposure.
