Alert: The House of Representatives will begin debate this morning on the Republican bill to slash funding for women's cancer screenings and childhood immunizations in order to use that funding to keep student loan interest rates low. Needless to say, this is a terrible idea. You can watch the debate this morning on C-Span.

There is still much more action to be done to keep rates low for 7 million students. Stay tuned for updates.

We all agree; we need to take action to stop the interest rate on need-based student loans from doubling this July. But we should not ask women and children to shoulder the cost.

Today, a new report shows that the Affordable Care Act is working. According to the Census Bureau’s Current Population Survey released today, there was a significant increase in the number of 18-24 year olds with health insurance in the U.S. over the past year.
