Today, I introduced the School Food Waste Reduction and Composting Act of 2026.

Every day, our schools serve thousands of meals to students—but too much edible food and compostable material still end up in the trash.

This bill creates a clearer path for schools to reduce food waste, expand composting, and strengthen food donation practices across DCPS and public charter schools.

By improving coordination between agencies, schools, and food service providers, we’re taking a practical step toward building healthier, more sustainable schools for DC students. 🌱
