The ADC team has returned from their visit to 2026 Great American Defense Community Jacksonville, Florida. Along with members of the program's partner Sourcewell, ADC board members toured Naval Station Mayport, helped support the food grocery store, and participated in the yearly Purple Heart observance.

A special thank you to mayor Donna Deegan and director of the Jacksonville military affairs and veterans department Harrison Conyers for hosting the delegation.

“A lot of times our communities are worried about the infrastructure that supports the mission, and even the installation itself,” [ADC Executive Director Matt Borron] said. “The facilities on base, are they up to speed? Are they being maintained? Is the housing still adequate?”…

“National security starts at home,” he said. “You need these communities to be this innovation hub. You need it to have great quality of life, so servicemembers and their families want to live there.”
