Composing Room, a small printing business in Pennsylvania, had some tough decisions to make when COVID disrupted operations. Thankfully, M&T Bank was able to quickly help Larry Weiss secure relief through a Paycheck Protection Program loan, saving jobs and protecting the health of their employees so they could safely serve their customers.

Turning over consumers' personal financial info to the IRS is wrong. We're grateful for those in Congress who, in response to significant concerns from their constituents, are taking a stand and hope Congress ultimately rejects any effort to air drop this in at the 11th hour.

A group of 21 Democratic U.S. representatives sent a letter to House leadership on Wednesday calling for a proposed bank reporting rule to be removed from the $2 trillion dollar budget reconciliation bill.

Bankers cannot become agents of the IRS.

Democrats scaled back a proposal that would require banks to send more information about customers’ accounts to the Internal Revenue Service, raising to $10,000 from $600 the key reporting threshold.
