The District of Columbia Office of Human Rights (OHR) was established to eradicate discrimination, increase equal opportunity and protect human rights for persons who live in or visit the District of Columbia. The agency enforces local and federal human rights laws, including the DC Human Rights Act, by providing a legal process to those who believe they have been discriminated against. OHR also p

roactively enforces human rights in the District through Director’s Inquiries, which allow it to identify and investigate practices and policies that may be discriminatory. On Tuesday, shared what civil rights work looked like on the ground this year.

✅We secured $1.1M for people harmed by discrimination and handled 1,300 plus complaints, including 319 mediations.

✅We also met residents where they are, reaching 4,000 plus people across all eight wards.

✅Language Access helped 280,000 LEP and NEP residents get past language barriers to District services,

✅and Youth Bullying Prevention reached 71,000 students, teachers, and parents to support safer schools.
