Honor September 11th by pledging a good deed along with millions of fellow Americans.

9/11 Day recently launched UNIITE For Good campaign which rallies Americans to come together through action.

"The two “I”s become people, objects and symbols associated with service and everyday acts of good: volunteers standing side by side, grocery bags left for a neighbor, work gloves in a community garden, paint cans at a neighborhood restoration project and other simple representations of people helping people."

ASC has gathered a few good deeds you can do to remember 9/11.

Be sure to make your pledge and share your good deeds by visiting 911day.org.

Today, we honor the extraordinary life and legacy of Jeanne Gibson, who passed away on July 29, 2026, at the age of 100.

She was a trailblazer for women's rights in the workforce, serving as the icon for Rosie the Riveter, which inspired the AmeriCorps "Get Things Done" pose. Her strength, warmth, and remarkable spirit will never be forgotten.

Curious how Serve New Mexico is bridging gaps and building capacity for their communities?

Take a look at the Albuquerque Sign Language Academy's AmeriCorps program, and how they combine deaf education and workforce development.

"The Albuquerque Sign Language Academy is an AmeriCorps program with a focus on improving educational and employment outcomes, via two adjacent host site locations at The Albuquerque Sign Language Academy and the North Fourth Arts and Workforce Training Center. A state-authorized charter school serving deaf, hard of hearing, and hearing students, many with multiple disabilities, has received national acclaim and remains a leader in deaf education reform.

The ASLA recognizes the importance of career-focused workforce training for its high school graduates as they age out of the public school system. AmeriCorps members are responsible for providing math and language arts tutoring for K-12 students and implementing an arts and workforce training program for adults with developmental disabilities."

Looking for a way to address an issue you see in your community? Consider the Youth as Solutions Program.

Youth as Solutions™ (YAS) is a guided service-learning program, through the National Youth Leadership Council (NYLC), where teams of middle and high school youth partner with an adult mentor to identify, understand, and address an issue in their own community. One adult leader and two primary youth leaders receive training and support from NYLC to lead their broader youth team ("Site Team") in taking collective action, designing a plan of activities to run from Fall 2026-Spring 2027. Teams are tasked to design a solution that not only meets a need in their community but also engages community members alongside the planning process.

NYLC provides training, coaching, a service-learning based youth leadership curriculum, an online community platform to collaborate with other teams across the country, and an opportunity to receive project implementation funding.
