At first glance, it doesn’t look like much. But Los Angeles/Long Beach CBP agriculture specialists discovered this Flighted Spongy Moth Complex (FSMC) egg mass on the side of a vessel arriving from China last month. It was treated and returned back to China.
Heavy infestations of the Flighted Spongy Moth Complex can strip trees and shrubs of
leaves, leading to the death and decline of forests, orchards, and landscapes. A flighted spongy moth complex introduction into the United States would pose a major threat to North American trees.
