U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania David Metcalf was honored to present the loved ones of fallen Philadelphia Fire Department Capt. Sean Williamson with USAO EDPA’s Hometown Hero Award.

This award commemorates the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States by recognizing individuals who embody the enduring ideals of liberty, service, and civic responsibility—qualities Capt. Williamson exemplified throughout his life and career.

A former Marine and a 27-year veteran of the Philadelphia Fire Department, Capt. Williamson was part of a team battling a structure fire in June 2022 when the building collapsed, tragically taking his life and injuring several other firefighters. The fire was later determined to be arson. We honor Capt. Williamson’s extraordinary service, sacrifice, and unwavering dedication to protecting his community.
