For Spc. Perry Solinski excellence is a nonnegotiable and a mindset. Serving as a Signal Support Systems Specialist, he currently supports the Joint Task Force-District of Columbia Command team as their Radio Telephone Operator while also serving as a Signal Tactical Network Specialist in the 260th Special Purpose Brigade.

With just about three years of service, he has already established himself as a high-performing Soldier and leader.

Solinski joined the National Guard with a clear purpose: to serve his country while continuing to build his civilian career in Information Technology. By combining his military experience with his civilian skill set, he has created a path centered on growth, service and continuous self-improvement.

His commitment to distinction is reflected in his achievements– most notably earning Distinguished Honor Graduate honors at both the Army Basic Leadership Course and Pathfinder School, an accomplishment that highlights his devotion and work ethic.

In his current role, he is responsible for ensuring senior leaders maintain reliable communication and real time situational awareness during operations. Whether configuring Team Awareness Kit platforms, operating land mobile radios, or providing technical expertise and mentorship to others, his impact is felt across the mission daily.

What keeps him motivated is simply the opportunity to get better. He believes every day offers a chance to improve– not just himself, but those around him– and that mindset drives his commitment to the highest standards.

His advice to fellow Soldiers and service members: “Take every opportunity available to you. The effort you put in today can open doors tomorrow– make sure your actions align with your goal.”

The motto he lives by says it best: “There is no failure except in no longer trying.” - Elbert Hubbard.

Solinski’s drive, professionalism, and commitment to excellence make him an outstanding example of what it means to serve.

Prepared for tactical support anytime, anywhere!

U.S. Army Brig. Gen. Craig M. Maceri, commander of the Land Component Command (LCC) for the District of Columbia National Guard, and CW5 Robert Gibson, the Command Chief Warrant Officer (CCWO) for the D.C. National Guard, met with Soldiers conducting annual training at Fort Pickett, Va., reinforcing the organization’s commitment to readiness and partnership. The Special Response Team stands prepared to integrate with partner agencies as requested, delivering tactical support whenever and wherever it’s needed.

This week, during the National Police Week Memorial Ceremony at the U.S. Marshals Service Headquarters in Arlington, Va., the U.S. Marshals Service honored the family and friends of U.S. Army Spc. Sarah Beckstrom.

At just 20 years old, Spc. Beckstrom of Summersville, West Virginia, made the selfless decision to serve her country and community as a military police soldier with the 863rd Military Police Company, West Virginia National Guard. She enlisted on June 26, 2023, and embodied courage, commitment, and service before her life was tragically cut short on Nov. 27, 2025, following a shooting while serving the D.C. Safe and Beautiful mission near the Farragut Square Metro Station in Washington, D.C.

We remember Spc. Beckstrom not only for the uniform she wore, but for the sacrifice she made and the legacy she leaves behind. Her dedication to protecting others will never be forgotten. Please join us in honoring her memory and keeping her loved ones, fellow Soldiers, and all those impacted in your thoughts during National Police Week.

Strengthening the moral and spiritual resilience of those still serving on the front lines!

Brig. Gen. Leland D. Blanchard II, Commanding General (Interim) of the District of Columbia National Guard, joined senior officials and leaders from federal and local law enforcement agencies for the annual Blue Mass in Washington. Held during or near National Police Week, the service honors law enforcement officers, firefighters, and other public safety personnel by praying for their protection and remembering those who have died in the line of duty.🇺🇸🚔🚒

Recently, a 113th Wing DC Air National Guard F-16D fighter jet piloted by Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Dan Caine taxied following a training sortie at Joint Base Andrews. Before becoming the 22nd Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff — the nation’s highest-ranking military officer and principal military advisor to the President, Secretary of War, and National Security Council — Gen. Caine served in multiple senior leadership roles within the 113th Wing D.C. Air National Guard and the D.C. National Guard. His journey reflects a legacy of service, leadership, and commitment to mission excellence at every level.🇺🇸✈️

U.S. Army Spc. Quatika Platt, an Automated Logistical Specialist (92A) with the Georgia National Guard, plays a vital role in sustaining operational readiness in support of the Joint Task Force - District of Columbia mission. Working from the central issue facility at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling (JBAB), Platt ensures service members are equipped with the technical gear and resources necessary to execute mission requirements effectively and efficiently.

Through dependable sustainment operations and behind-the-scenes logistical support, she strengthens mission capability and reinforces the readiness of the force. Whether supporting her fellow Soldiers and Airmen, her community, or the broader mission, she continues to demonstrate the importance of reliable leadership and steadfast commitment in today’s National Guard.
