Republicans control the White House, the Senate, and the House. Gas is at a record high. Groceries keep climbing. Medicaid is being cut. And now the President is promising $5,000 to every American — but only if they win again in November. If they haven't fixed the affordability crisis with total control of Washington, what exactly are they waiting for?

President Donald Trump vowed to pay every American adult $5,000 if Republicans retain their House and Senate majorities in November’s midterm elections – an extraordinary offer as he tries to keep his party in power.

When we invest in local food infrastructure, everybody wins — farmers reach new markets, communities get access to fresh locally grown food, and rural economies get stronger. Illinois just committed $3.5 million to 61 organizations across 35 counties to do exactly that.

Illinois is awarding $3.5 million in local food grants to 61 organizations across 35 counties statewide.

The men and women of the 183rd Wing have given nearly two decades of dedicated service to this nation.

I joined Senator Tammy Duckworth & Senator Dick Durbin to call on the Air Force to provide a replacement mission for Springfield's 183rd Wing following the deactivation of its repair facility in 2027. Their expertise and legacy of service are too valuable to walk away from.

Illinois hospitals stand to lose $4 billion in Medicaid funding cuts in the Big, Ugly Law — and the hospitals most at risk are the ones serving rural communities and the most vulnerable patients. The Illinois Hospital Association is warning that roughly half of Illinois hospitals could be forced to cut services or close. That's a healthcare crisis in the making and we’re fighting to reverse these cuts.

Unless Congress acts, roughly half the hospitals in Illinois could be forced to reduce staff, cut services or close because of changes in Medicaid reimbursement rules.

I’m proud to be among the Democrats leading the way in bringing federal dollars back home to our district. These investments are strengthening water infrastructure, improving public safety, supporting community health, and keeping our communities competitive.

Bethalto residents have been without reliable clean water for over a year.

I've requested $805,000 in federal funds to replace aging water mains — and I'm going to keep pushing until Bethalto residents get the investment and the answers they deserve.

Madison County awarded more than $350,000 to replace water lines, and the area’s congresswoman is asking for $805,000 in federal funds. However, village officials aren’t saying where efforts stand.

Canada's retaliatory tariffs are in effect today — targeting U.S. steel, dairy, and agricultural equipment. Illinois farmers and workers are caught in the middle of a trade war that didn't have to happen. We need stable trade relationships with our neighbors.

The duties are a retaliation against President Trump’s recent tariffs, raising concerns about further escalation.

I joined Postmaster General Steiner, Chairman Pete Sessions, and Representative Wesley Bell for a tour of the St. Louis postal processing facility. It was a valuable look at the operations that keep mail moving across Central and Southern Illinois every single day. Reliable postal service isn't just a convenience. For rural communities, seniors waiting on prescriptions, and small businesses depending on deliveries, it's a lifeline.

Gas hit a record high for Labor Day weekend — $4.14 a gallon, nearly a dollar more than last year. The war in Iran is driving all of it, and the administration has no clear answer for when it ends. Working families can't afford to keep waiting.

Prices shot up after the U.S. and Israel attacked Iran in February and have not settled down since. Crude oil traffic through the key Strait of Hormuz has plunged, and Iran has refused to reopen the waterway.

Childcare is already unaffordable for working families. The answer isn't to redirect money based on family structure — it's to invest more. This proposal takes funds from single working parents and gives them to married couples with a stay-at-home spouse. No new dollars. Working families deserve real solutions, not a reshuffling of limited resources.

The proposed benefit, a top policy priority for Vice President JD Vance, would apply only to married couples and tap a fund intended to provide federal child care subsidies to working parents.
