Director Snider joined the Caribbean community last night at Sapodilla's—a woman‑owned Caribbean restaurant led by Chef Samantha Abrams which is an emerging cultural hub—for a celebration of culture and connection.

The special public meet‑and‑greet featured music from Kes the Band, and residents, local businesses, and visitors in a free, community‑centered event highlighting the growing influence of Caribbean culture in DC.

Over the weekend, Director Snider gave remarks at Georgetown University's showing of "Ybor City", a melodic journey of music, movement, and migration. The talented cast told the story of a section of Tampa in 1918, and how Cuban and Afro-Caribbean communities helped shape Ybor City. We're grateful to writer Dr. Anita Gonzalez, composer Dan Furman, director Maija Garcia, musical director Gerardo Contino, and the cast of Georgetown students for keeping Caribbean stories center stage.

On December 19, the Advisory Committee to the Office on Caribbean Community Affairs came together for a meaningful end‑of‑year meeting filled with connection and celebration. During the meeting, Director Natalee Snider had the honor of presenting a mayoral proclamation to Coach Enoch Thompson, a Bahamian American, officially recognizing December 19, 2025 as Enoch Thompson Day. Mr. Thompson has spent years coaching tennis, teaching, and volunteering across DC.
