Military and Veteran Caregiver Network - MVCN Connection - Engagement - Knowledge - Skills - Hope

The Military and Veteran Caregiver Network (MVCN) offers peer-based support and services to connect those providing care to service members and veterans living with wounds, illnesses, injuries and/or aging. Mission:
The American Red Cross Military and Veteran Caregiver Network provides highest-quality peer support to caregivers of all eras, all relationships, and across all locations who provide c

are to military service members or veterans with wounds, illnesses, injuries, or age-related conditions along with veterans who provide care to another. Our programs are designed to connect caregivers to a community of caregivers with similar life experiences within a network of support to reduce isolation, and increase engagement, knowledge, skills, and hope. Programs:
The Network offers caregivers access to the highest-quality peer support programs and services– online and in their communities– through collaboration with partner organizations that share a commitment to reducing caregiver isolation. The Network allows caregivers to offer one another support, understanding and encouragement through three, evidence-based, peer support programs:
- Online Peer Support Community
- Online & Community-Based Peer Support Groups
- Peer Mentor Support Program

Services:
The MVCN helps caregivers of all ages and stages, clinicians, partners and supporters, providing access to two open caregiver-focused services:
- The Hero Care Resource Directory offers over 800 resources per US zip code
- The Caregiver Calendar allows caregivers to locate peer support events and activities online and in communities

Impact:
The MVCN programs are regularly evaluated to ensure they are:
- Meeting the needs of caregivers for connection and engagement
- Delivering consistent, highest quality peer support services
- Facilitating access to relevant partner services and resources nationwide
- Maintaining accountability to caregivers, partners, and donors

Caregiving can feel isolating — but you’re not alone.

This week, share a small win: a moment of rest, a boundary you honored, a task you completed, or a breath you finally took.
Your wins matter. Your story matters.

Let’s lift each other up.

Did you know our Online Community Team is made up of caregivers too?

These volunteers bring their lived experience, compassion, and insight into every post they share and every conversation they nurture.

They help make the MVCN Online Community a welcoming, supportive space where caregivers can connect, learn, and feel understood — any time of day.

This Month of the Military Caregiver, we honor the caregivers who volunteer their time to uplift others while navigating their own caregiving journeys.
Your presence makes our community stronger.

Our Peer Supporter volunteers are caregivers too — and they’re the heart of our groups.

They show up with empathy, leadership, and lived experience to facilitate safe, supportive spaces where caregivers can breathe, share, and feel less alone.

From Sharing the Journey to the Caregiver Chat, these volunteers create connection and community in ways only caregivers can.

This month, we celebrate the caregivers who guide, listen, and hold space for others.
Your leadership and compassion make a real difference.

On Military Spouse Appreciation Day, we celebrate the spouses who stand beside their service members and veterans with courage, compassion, and steady love.

Many of you are also caregivers — advocating, coordinating care, and supporting your families in ways often unseen.

Your dedication shapes the wellbeing of the entire military community.
Thank you for all you do.

What does military caregiving really look like?
Advocacy. Navigating systems. Emotional support. Medical tasks. Holding families together through constant change.

RAND research shows just how complex and long‑term these responsibilities can be.
