🚨ATTENTION SWFL🚨
We are less than a week away from the start of the 2026 Atlantic hurricane season.
Vigilance is important, but preparation is paramount.
Get Informed: Identify specific hazards threatening your community and familiarize yourself with local emergency management resources and officials.
Know Your Zone and Home: Use a "Know Your Zone" map to check if your residence is in an evacuation zone, and assess your home's structural ability to withstand severe weather to determine if you should evacuate or shelter in place.
Build a Disaster Supply Kit: Assemble a customized kit tailored to your household's needs, ensuring you have enough items to last at least 7 days.
Keep a Copy: Duplicate your IDs and crucial paperwork to store securely in a safe location or within your disaster supply kit.
Sign Up for Local Resources: Register for community weather alerts through the Florida Division of Emergency Management and join the Florida Special Needs Registry if you require electricity for medical devices, evacuation transit, or medication assistance.
