The (Docket No. PF26‑9‑000) is now in the early stages of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission's environmental review process.

Transwestern Pipeline Company is proposing to build a new 520‑mile natural gas pipeline system, along with new laterals and compressor stations across Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas. has already begun its pre‑filing environmental review, which means the public can get involved now—before a formal application is submitted.

📣 Public Open Houses Start This Week
Transwestern is hosting open house meetings April 20–29, 2026, with FERC staff on site to answer questions and explain how the review process works. This is a great opportunity to learn more, speak with experts, and understand how the Project may affect your community.

FERC Term of the Week! “Load Growth”: An increase in demand for electricity. This can happen gradually – due to population growth or new businesses – or more rapidly when large facilities, such as data centers, come online. Other areas of rapid load growth include cryptocurrency mining, EV adoption, and electric heat conversions.

Understanding load growth helps grid planners prepare for future electricity needs.

Why do co-located loads matter?

When large electricity users, such as data centers, connect directly to power generators, it can change how electricity flows through the system. Among other things, the generator may send less electricity to the grid once the co-located load is in place. Generally, these arrangements may influence grid planning, costs, and how future electricity demand is forecasted.

As electricity demand grows, understanding how different types of loads connect to the system will help regulators, grid operators, and communities plan for reliable and affordable service.

FERC Term of the Week! “Co-Located Load”: A large electricity user - often a data center - that is built near a power generator and receives electricity directly from that generator instead of relying fully on the broader electric grid.
