The Alliance Française is the largest network of French language and cultural centers in the world. There are 850 Alliance Française chapters established in 130 countries, including 110 chapters in the United States, serving 600,000 students. The Alliance Française de Washington is affiliated with the first of all Alliances, the Alliance Française de Paris.

Tomorrow: Our Francophone partners at the National Museum of African Art National Museum of African Art will be hosting Teaching Africa Day tomorrow, September 12, from 1:00pm-5:00pm. This is an exciting event you won’t want to miss!

Check back in March for our free French language tours of the NMAFA in celebration of the Francophonie Festival and International Francophone Month. It’s only once a year, so you’ll want to get your tickets as soon as they come out! Follow us at Alliance Française DC to be the first to know.

In one week from now, we will be celebrating together at the AFDC Gala, now SOLD OUT!

We are excited to celebrate Fashion and the memory of late Board Member and lifelong Francophile, Nina Pillsbury. Select pieces of her fashion collection will be debuted for one night only, and we are so excited for ticket holders to experience this!

Also in attendance will be our speaker, the Director of the Fashion Institue of Technology, Dr. Valerie Steele, who will also join us at the AFDC the following day on September 18 for a special event dedicated to her book, Paris, Capital of Fashion.
