A statement from Erin Bradley, Executive Director of PPADMV, on SCOTUS's decision to allow the purging of Virginia voter rolls:
"Planned Parenthood Advocates for DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia strongly condemns the Supreme Court’s upholding of a state program that purges registered voters from its registration polls. Any effort to disenfranchise voters, especially this close to an election, is a step backwards in a democratic system.
“To all of those who are eligible to vote in Virginia, it is important you know your rights. If you are an eligible voter who has unjustly been removed from these rolls, you can still vote! Virginia allows voters to register on the same day they vote, meaning you can re-register and make your voice heard at the polls."
📣 Virginia voters: you still have the right to vote, and there's still ways to cast your ballot in the 2024 election if you were purged.
First, check your registration status: https://vote.elections.virginia.gov/VoterInformation
Then, learn about same day registration and casting a provisional ballot: https://www.elections.virginia.gov/registration/same-day-voter-registration/
And when you're at the poll, make sure to know your voting rights: https://www.acluva.org/voters-rights
Same day registration refers to the ability to register to vote in-person and immediately vote a provisional ballot after the deadline to register and vote a non-provisional ballot has passed.
