On June 8, 2026, the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan hosted a meeting between Deputy Minister of Education of Turkmenistan Azat Atayev and a delegation from the United States led by Sarah Rogers.

The parties discussed ways to further strengthen Turkmen-American cooperation in education, with a focus on expanding inter-university ties, academic mobility, language training, digital technologies, and the preparation of specialists for modern sectors of the economy.

Special attention was paid to joint master’s programs, including MBA initiatives, dual-degree models, curriculum development, faculty training, international accreditation, artificial intelligence technologies, and the use of leading digital educational platforms.

The sides also discussed current exchange programs, opportunities to increase participation of Turkmen students, and stronger engagement with alumni networks.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties agreed to update the joint cooperation Roadmap, reflecting new priorities in education, innovation, digital ecosystems and university partnerships.

The meeting reaffirmed the mutual commitment of Turkmenistan and the United States to strengthening educational cooperation and training highly qualified professionals for the future.

The sides discussed the active development of Turkmen-American cooperation in the political-diplomatic, trade-economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres.
Special attention was paid to partnership in education, science, culture, digitalization, media, public diplomacy, and professional exchanges.

The parties discussed the current state and prospects of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the IMF, including macroeconomic policy, sustainable development, strengthening the financial system, and Turkmenistan’s integration into the global economy.

Last week the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan hosted a Turkmen-American Business Forum in a round table format, with the participation of heads of ministries and agencies of Turkmenistan and a U.S. business delegation led by Eric Stewart, Executive Director of the Turkmen-American Business Council.
The participants discussed prospects for expanding trade, economic and investment cooperation between Turkmenistan and the United States, including in industry, agriculture, water management, energy, transport, communications, construction, healthcare, environmental protection, innovative technologies and cybersecurity.
It was noted that Turkmenistan is open to effective cooperation with American companies and supports the strengthening of mutually beneficial business ties.
Special attention was paid to the role of the Turkmen-American Business Council and the newly established Turkmen-American Business Cooperation Association (TABCA) in promoting long-term partnership between the public and private sectors of both countries.
An exhibition organized by the Turkmen-American Business Council was also held as part of the forum, showcasing the potential of Turkmen-American business cooperation.

On June 3, 2026, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the United States participated in a World Bicycle Day event in Washington, D.C., organized by WABA and WRI.

The event brought together representatives from Switzerland, Belgium, Germany, Poland, Slovenia, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan, Mongolia, Nepal, Lithuania, Indonesia, Guatemala, Costa Rica, the European Union, and other countries.

During the ride through downtown Washington, Embassy representatives highlighted Turkmenistan’s initiative that led to the 2018 UN General Assembly resolution proclaiming June 3 as World Bicycle Day.

During the meeting, the sides discussed the current state and prospects for the further development of Turkmenistan-U.S. cooperation across a wide range of areas.
The sides noted with satisfaction the recent intensification of bilateral political and diplomatic dialogue and emphasized the importance of maintaining regular contacts at senior and high levels.
Particular attention was paid to cooperation in trade and economic affairs, energy, transport, and connectivity. In this context, the sides underscored the importance of expanding mutually beneficial partnership, including in the areas of energy security and diversification of energy supply routes.
