Detachment 130 Air Force ROTC Detachment 130 is hosted by Howard University, located in Washington, DC. Detachment 130 is home to AFROTC cadets across the District of Columbia.

We pride ourselves in having a diverse corps of cadets including students from 7 crosstown universities in the DC area. Since 2000, Detachment 130 has commissioned more than 100 officers.

This summer, C/Wingen had the opportunity to partake in the USAFA Freefall program as his Officer Development Training (ODT).

This challenging and rewarding program requires students to undergo a rigorous school training course taught by cadet Jumpmasters of the USAFA Parachute Team. They will then learn the form, procedures, and confidence necessary to complete five unassisted freefall skydives from 4,500 ft above ground level.

Almost all Det 130 cadets are done with Field Training, with Max 5 graduating just last week! They earned their prop and wings/delta on 5 August and we are excited to welcome them back as the school year is about to begin.

Our four cadets went into Field Training strong and came back out even stronger—truly exemplifying warrior ethos and leadership. We hope to see these characteristics carry on through training our GMC cadets! 💪

Continuing strong with our all crosstown Max! Our Max 4 cadets earned their prop and wings/delta on 22 July and we couldn’t be more proud!

Despite being placed in unexpected predicaments, these four cadets have shown that they’re capable of handling any challenge in their path. Their resilience is commendable, and are just the qualities we need from our POC 🔥
