Support Frontline Responders in the battle against the spread of Ebola

𝗟𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝘂𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗸.

As of June 5, 2026 (WHO/CDC):
➡️400 confirmed cases total across the DRC and Uganda.
➡️381 confirmed cases in the DRC across three provinces: Ituri (359 cases), North Kivu (19 cases), and South Kivu (3 cases).
➡️19 confirmed cases in Uganda.
➡️66 confirmed deaths.
➡️233 individuals are currently hospitalized or in isolation.

The WHO Director-General said it plainly: "The Ebola outbreak had a big head start, and we're still behind."

How to use a handwashing station. How to protect yourself when caring for a sick family
member. Who to contact if symptoms appear. How to handle the burial of a deceased loved one. What to do and what not to do.
This knowledge saves lives. And it spreads faster than any virus when communities trust the
people delivering it.
The Basandja Coalition has that trust. They have spent decades building relationships in these

𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝗶𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗼 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗻𝗼𝘄.

The Basandja Coalition of Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities is a network of community-based organizations that has worked across the Congo for decades. The name Basandja comes from a Topoke word for the traditional code of conduct governing the harmonious relationship between human beings and the natural world.

They are not outsiders arriving in a crisis. They are rooted in these communities. They are members of the community. They have the trust.

And right now, they are at the epicenter of the Ebola outbreak, distributing soap, gloves, masks, and handwashing stations to the people who need them most.

𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗘𝗯𝗼𝗹𝗮 𝘃𝗶𝗿𝘂𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗮𝗺𝗲.

The outbreak currently spreading through the Democratic Republic of the Congo is caused by the Bundibugyo species. It is one of the rarest and least understood strains of Ebola ever recorded.

There is no approved vaccine. There is no approved treatment.

Health workers on the ground are fighting this with protective equipment, community education, and basic hygiene infrastructure. That is what stands between communities and further spread.

The Basandja Coalition is distributing exactly that, right now, at the epicenter of the outbreak.
