Drawing from Pope John Paul II in Evangelium Vitae, Forsythe argues that voting for a law that only partially restricts abortion is not complicit in evil. It is a legitimate effort to limit the harm of abortion when a full ban isn’t feasible.
Clarke argues that an all-or-nothing strategy is self-defeating. True prudence means using whatever political ground is available now to limit abortion, save lives, and maintain momentum — rather than allowing the perfect to become the enemy of the good.
