Last week, Ambassador Schneebauer joined EU Ambassador Jovita Neliupšienė and fellow EU Member State Ambassadors at the Library of Congress for a special reception marking the handover of the EU Ambassadors Book Collection to the American public. A sincere thank you to Representative Nathaniel Moran for hosting this meaningful event.

To commemorate the 250th anniversary of the United States, all 27 EU Member States donated an English-language book reflecting their national history, culture, and values to the Library of Congress. Austria contributed The Marshall Plan – Since 1947: Saving Europe, Rebuilding Austria, ever grateful for the vital role in Austria’s post-war recovery and reconstruction.

The collection celebrates the enduring bonds between Europe and the United States and invites American readers to explore the stories, experiences, and values that unite us. 📚🤝🇺🇸.

On May 29, Deputy Chief of Mission Hans Almoslechner welcomed guests to the 2026 Annual Botstiber Lecture at the Embassy of Austria, celebrating 250 years of Austrian-American relations ahead of the U.S. sesquiquincentennial.

The evening featured a short film on the life of Siegfried Beer, Chairman of the Botstiber Institute’s Board, followed by this year's lecture from Thomas Starlinger, former Austrian Secretary of Defense: "From the Alps to the Rocky Mountains: 250 Years of Austrian-American Relations. We were delighted to once again visit our Embassy Adoption Program partner school, Hardy Middle School, and spend time with the students and their wonderful teacher, Chiara.

A special thank you to Austrian actor Saskia Norman and Austrian director Elisabeth Halikiopoulos for leading a lively improv workshop that had everyone laughing by the end of the session. The students enthusiastically embraced improv, showing just how much learning can happen through creativity and play.

We always enjoy visiting the 6th graders at Hardy Middle School and look forward hosting them for their Capstone Presentation at the Embassy in June!

Following the motto 'United by Music', this year's Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) saw 26 artists compete for the title in Vienna — and we were proud to bring the spirit of the event to Washington, D.C.! 🇦🇹🇺🇸

A heartfelt thank you to our friends at Red Bull and to our valued co-host, the American-Austrian Cultural Society, for making this evening possible. And most importantly, thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating this special occasion filled with great music, laughter, and a true taste of Austria.

Congratulations to this year’s ESC winner, Bulgaria, and a special shoutout to Austria’s own Cosmó and his song Tanzschein. 🎶🏆
