In an effort to reduce congestion, improve safety, create jobs and move people, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is initiating widening and construction improvement along the S.R. 77 corridor in Washington County, Florida. Construction activities on S.R. 77 from the Bay County Line to north of Blue Lake Road began in October 2015. No detours are planned during construction, though m
otorists may experience minor travel delays and are advised to plan accordingly. Planned improvements of the $87 million project include widening the roadway from two lanes to four lanes; drainage improvements; safety upgrades; and new signage and pavement markings. Further north, FDOT began a $56 million construction project to widen a 3.5 mile segment of State Road (S.R.) 77, from Rogers Road to Cane Mill Road, in Wausau. The project is aimed at increasing capacity on S.R. 77 from two to four travel lanes, along with improving safety and enhancing mobility. During construction, drivers will periodically encounter temporary lane closures. These lane closures will occur during both day and nighttime hours. At least one travel lane will remain open at all times. The project is anticipated to be completed in early 2027. Drivers should be alert for the presence of construction worker and equipment entering and exiting the roadway. General Inquiries:
