🇺🇸 Happy 4th of July from Washburn Fire and Rescue!

As you celebrate Independence Day with family and friends, please remember to put safety first.

🎆 Firework Safety Tips:• Keep a bucket of water or a hose nearby.• Never allow young children to handle fireworks.• Light only one firework at a time and move away quickly.• Never relight fireworks that don't ignite.• Keep spectators at a safe distance.• Soak used fireworks in water before throwing them away.• Never use fireworks while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Have a fun, safe, and memorable Fourth of July! If an emergency happens, don't hesitate to call 911.

8:25 PM CDT: It is inevitable at this point. Our storms have merged and grown into a developing line (squall line) that will likely continue to strengthen and push eastwards through the evening. This serves notice and a HEADS UP to everyone east of this line. 70+ mph winds are likely heading your way. Peak gusts may reach 100 mph. We expect this line to reach the highway 83 corridor as early as 9:30 PM

PDS (Particularly Dangerous Situation) Severe Thunderstorm WATCH now in place through 11pm CDT.
Primary threats include widespread damaging winds of 60-80 mph and scattered significant gusts up to 100 mph likely, scattered large hail and isolated very large hail events to 2 inches in diameter possible, and a tornado or two possible.
