Our Board of Supervisors and elections are a critical piece of the work we do at the SWCD. Supervisors act as representatives of their constituents to help guide the direction of Waseca Soil and Water Conservation District. 2026 is an election year and you could be the next representative for your community and the SWCD. Now’s the time to get involved. The filing period runs May 19 through June 2 at 5 p.m., with the general election on November 3, 2026.

Check out this video to learn more about being a supervisor and how to get your name on the ballet! The specific information on the election process will be linked in the comments!

In January we had the pleasure to sponsor a local farmer, Dan Roemhildt, to attend the National No-Tillage Conference in St Louis, Mo. Now that he's back in town we wanted to sit down with him and hear an insiders perspective on the conference and find out what his take aways are.

A major highlight were the people. He thought it was a great opportunity to not only network with other farmers but talk with professionals who might be able to help him further his soil health practices. Whether you have years of experience with soil health or are just starting out, it is a great way to learn.

In addition to the networking Dan found the use of AI in agriculture to be particularly interesting.

If you are interested in attending an event like this or similar and having registration covered, inquire to 507-835-0603 and find out more! We were able to provide this opportunity with a grant through the U of M Minnesota Office of Soil Health and Minnesota NRCS.
