RI Office of Veterans Services

RI Office of Veterans Services The State of Rhode Island’s coordination center for Veterans, service members, and their families.

We connect individuals to care, benefits, and support—and oversee the RI Veterans Home and Veterans Memorial Cemetery. The Rhode Island Office of Veterans Services (RIVETS) is committed to supporting Veterans, active service members, Guard, Reserve and their families. Our team understands the unique challenges Veterans face and works to address them through informed, compassionate service. Through strong local and regional partnerships, RIVETS promotes the financial, social, and emotional well-being of Veterans. We focus on reducing homelessness, poverty, and unemployment while providing essential care at the Rhode Island Veterans Home and Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

This morning, Director Yarn joined the Rhode Island National Guard's Soldier for Life program as a guest speaker.

Soldier for Life prepares Guard members for the the important choice between continued service or a return to civilian life — covering benefits, careers, education, and what comes next.

Director Yarn’s message was simple: no matter the decision, the Rhode Island Office of Veterans Services is here as a toolbox of resources for every service member.

Today marks 25 years since the tragic events of September 11th, 2001. Our country was forever changed from that day forward. The Rhode Island State Police , RI Office of Veterans Services, Rhode Island National Guard, Congressional Delegation, RI Patriot Guard Riders, and members of the public honored those lost with a beautifully solemn ceremony which included moments of silence, the striking of the four 5's —a fire-service honor of five bells rung four times for a fallen firefighter— a wreath-laying followed by taps and a 3 gun salute and bagpipe rendition of Amazing Grace.

May we all take time to remember those we lost and may we never forget the the unity and compassion each American shared as a result of this tragedy.

This morning, Director Yarn stood with first responders from across Rhode Island at New England Institute of Technology’s September 11th memorial. Students and guest speakers repeated the words that have carried with us for 25 years: Never Forget.

We remember. We tell the story. We will never forget.
