BACK TO SCHOOL, WARWICK!

The buses are out. The walkers are out. The school zones are busy.

Translation: Leave a little earlier and take your time.

Those extra five minutes might be the difference between “Good morning!” and “Good morning, Officer.”

Have a safe first day, Warwick!

Apparently, City Hall negotiations have gotten more aggressive.
No report was filed. No summonses were issued. But we’re pretty sure there was a winner.

Going out? Make a plan before you go.

If you’ve been drinking, don’t get behind the wheel. Designate a sober driver, call a rideshare, or find another safe way home.

A DUI can change your night. A crash can change your life.

YOU ASKED. WE’RE JUST THE MESSENGERS.

Last week, we had a little fun with the idea that the Warwick Police Department is out here making up laws. Spoiler alert: we aren't.

We read through the comments, and one thing became pretty clear:
A LOT of you wanted a reminder about turn signals.
So, Warwick, you asked for it. Here it is.

RHODE ISLAND GENERAL LAW § 31-16-5 — TURN SIGNAL REQUIRED

The law requires drivers to give an appropriate signal when turning, moving right or left, or otherwise moving from a direct course when another person or vehicle may be affected by the movement, and when the movement can be made with reasonable safety.

In other words…

-Turning? Use your signal.
-Changing lanes? Use your signal.
-Pulling into a driveway or private road? Use your signal.
-Moving left or right where your movement may affect someone else? Yep… signal.
-Signal="BLINKER or BLINKA"

And before the comments begin:

No, we did not make this one up either...We’re simply sharing what the law says.

So, since you asked us to remind you about this one…You're welcome!

And to everyone who uses their turn signal every time: we see you. We appreciate you. Please teach your ways to the rest of us.
