A hot topic at last night’s Warwick City Council meeting: Ward 2 residents came out to voice concerns about the possibility of 57 housing units at the former Aldrich School, particularly the potential for increased traffic and congestion in the neighborhood.

The issue will be revisited in February.

25 years later, the toll of September 11th terrorist attack continues to grow.

2,977 lives were lost that day, including 412 first responders.

🚒 343 FDNY firefighters
🚔 37 Port Authority Police officers
🚔 23 NYPD officers
🚑 9 other emergency responders

Since then, nearly 10,000 responders and survivors have died from illnesses associated with their exposure to the World Trade Center.

For the FDNY alone, 453 members have now died from 9/11-related illnesses — more than the 343 firefighters lost on September 11th itself.

343 that day. 453 since.

We remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice, and those who carried the consequences of that day for years afterward.

RIDE has secured a five-year, $3.68 million federal grant that will support the Rhode Island Special Education (RISE) initiative, a statewide effort to strengthen special education services and improve outcomes for students with disabilities statewide.

Our firefighters serve Warwick with courage, professionalism, and an unwavering commitment to protecting our residents. Earning the confidence of those who work on the front lines for our community means so much to me.

SCHOOL-ZONE SPEED CAMERAS RETURN AUGUST 31

With the new school year approaching, Warwick Police would like to remind motorists that the City’s school-zone speed cameras will become active on Monday, August 31.

The cameras operate 7:00 AM–4:00 PM on school days only and are inactive on weekends, holidays, snow days, summer vacation, and other days when school is not in session.

What drivers should know:

-A violation is issued for traveling 10 MPH or more over the posted school-zone speed limit.
-School-zone speed limits are 20 MPH on city roads and 25 MPH on state roads.
-The fine is $50. Citations are civil, non-moving violations and are not reported to the Rhode Island DMV.
-Four warning signs are posted in each school-zone camera area.
