Libraries are more than bookshelves — they are safe spaces for learning, discovery, connection, and opportunity.

For over 100 years, the Warsaw Community Public Library has served as a cornerstone of our community, helping children learn to read, supporting lifelong learning, and ensuring access to resources for all.

At Operation Read, we know literacy changes lives. We also know that strong communities need strong libraries.

We encourage our supporters to learn more about the proposed improvements and attend the May 18 meeting if you are able. Supporting literacy means supporting the spaces where learning happens every day.

National Literacy Month is coming to a close. Over the past four weeks, we have shared how Operation Read is building a county where reading changes everything.

We are so much more than "literacy services."

From the Babies First Library books that put big words into tiny hands.

To the STEAM-focused board books that raise expectations for our youngest learners.

To the Book Boogie movement turning whole schools into reading culture powerhouses.

To the shared county-wide experience of Read Around Kosciusko County.

And most importantly, to our one-on-one adult tutoring program. This is where we see the most transformational, life-changing shifts—from reading a single word to graduating high school and finding a career.

This transformation is not an accident. It is built by YOU.

We set a bold goal for Kosciusko County: Imagine if all 75,000 residents gave just $1 a day for National Literacy Month. That would generate $2,250,000 for literacy.

We are so incredibly grateful for the support we’ve received so far. But the work isn’t finished. There are still children waiting for their first books, and still adults ready to learn but needing the mentorship to shed the shame.

Happy World Poetry Day! 📝✨

Today we celebrate the rhythm, the rhyme, and the power of words! At Operation Read, we are constantly inspired by the poetry hidden in everyday life: the first word read aloud, the proud smile of an adult learner, and the shared joy of a whole classroom deep in a story.

To celebrate, we wrote a little poem about our transformation and our mission:

The Little Logo That Could (And Did)

It used to be a little dry,
With words like "literacy," high and high.
But then we saw a better way,
To reach the folks who need it, every day!

We changed our name, we found our voice,
And made a transformational choice.
From toddlers with their strong, thick books,
To one-on-one sessions for focused looks.

We raise the bar, we walk the path,
From spelling tests to counting math.
Because in Kosciusko, we see clearly,
That every single reader, matters dearly.

It's not a transaction, that's not our goal,
We're building confidence, a reader's soul!
With "World Storytelling Day" or "Poetry" in hand,
We're writing a new chapter for this land.

We're Operation Read, we're here to stay,
Changing lives, one story every day!
